What this tool does
It formats a list of addresses you already have into a correct sitemap file: valid XML, special characters escaped, duplicates removed. It does not crawl your website to discover pages, so the list has to come from you — for example from your CMS, or from an existing sitemap via the Sitemap URL Extractor.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need change frequency and priority?
No. Google has said it ignores both. They are offered because some other search engines and tools still read them.
How many URLs can a sitemap hold?
Up to 50,000 addresses and 50 MB. Larger sites split their pages across several sitemaps.
Which pages should I include?
Only pages you want in search results: the canonical version of each, returning a normal 200 response. Leave out redirects, blocked pages and duplicates.
Does a sitemap improve ranking?
Not by itself. It helps search engines find and re-check your pages sooner, which matters most for new and large sites.
Is what I type sent to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you enter leaves your device.
