What Open Graph tags do
When someone shares your link on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack or X, the network reads these tags to build the preview card: the picture, headline and text. Without them the network guesses, and often picks the wrong image or no image at all.
Frequently asked questions
What size should the image be?
1200 × 630 pixels is the safe choice for a large preview on every major network. Keep important content away from the edges.
Why does my old preview still show after I changed the tags?
Networks cache previews. Use Facebook's Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn's Post Inspector to make them fetch the page again.
Do I need the Twitter tags as well?
X falls back to Open Graph tags for most things, but the twitter:card tag is what chooses between the large and small layout, so it is worth including.
The preview here shows no picture.
The image address could not be loaded. Check that it is a full https:// address and that the image is publicly reachable.
Is what I type sent to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you enter leaves your device.
