This page explains, in plain language, what happens to your files and information when you use iLoveMyFile.
The short version
- Almost every tool processes your files in your own browser. Those files are never uploaded to us.
- We have no user accounts, so we do not hold your name, email address or password.
- We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
- A small number of tools send a web address or IP address you type to our server so that it can look something up. That information is not stored.
Files you work with
When you use a PDF, image, document, text, data or developer tool, the file or text is read and processed by code running in your browser, on your device. It is not sent to iLoveMyFile's server, and we cannot see it. When you close or reload the page, it is gone from the tool.
Tools that use our server
The following tools need to contact other computers on the internet, which a browser is not allowed to do by itself: DNS Lookup, IP Address Lookup, SSL Certificate Checker, HTTP Header Checker, Redirect Checker and URL Status Checker.
When you use one of them, the domain name, web address or IP address you enter is sent to our server, which makes the lookup and returns the result to you. We do not keep a record of what you looked up or of the result.
To prevent misuse, these tools limit how many lookups each visitor can make. To do that, our server keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address together with the times of your recent lookups. This is deleted automatically within about an hour.
Information your browser sends automatically
Like every website, ours is delivered by a hosting provider (Hostinger). When your browser asks for a page, the provider's servers receive your IP address, your browser type and the page requested, and may record them in standard server logs for security and reliability. We do not use these logs to identify individual visitors.
Services loaded from other companies
To keep pages small, some of the code and fonts used by the tools are loaded from public content delivery networks when you open a page: jsDelivr and SheetJS for open-source software libraries, and Google Fonts for typefaces. The text recognition tools also download language data from a content delivery network. Your browser connects directly to these services, so they receive your IP address, as they do for any website that uses them. They do not receive your files.
If you paste HTML into the HTML to PDF tool, or enter an image address in the Open Graph Generator, your browser may load images from the web addresses contained in what you entered.
Cookies and storage in your browser
iLoveMyFile does not set cookies. It stores one small setting in your browser's local storage: whether you chose the light or dark theme. This stays on your device and is not sent to us.
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply to you and to fix the problem you report.
Children
The site is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the way the site handles data changes — for example, if a new tool needs to send data to a server — this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
