Type a title or description to see the preview.
How to use the SERP Snippet Preview
- Type your page title, description and address.
- Look at the preview. Text that is too long is cut off exactly as Google would cut it.
- Shorten or reword until the important part is visible, then use the text in your page.
Why width matters more than character count
Google does not cut titles at a number of characters. It cuts them at a width of about 580 pixels on desktop, so a title full of wide letters such as W and M is cut sooner than one full of narrow letters such as i and l. This tool measures the real width of your text, which is why its result can differ from a simple character counter.
Frequently asked questions
Will my result look exactly like this?
It is a close estimate of the desktop layout. Google changes its design often, shows fewer characters on phones, and sometimes rewrites titles and descriptions.
What happens if my title is too long?
Google cuts it and adds "…", or replaces it with other text from the page. Put the most important words first.
Why did Google use a different description from mine?
When your description does not match what the person searched for, Google often picks a passage from the page instead.
Is what I type sent to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you enter leaves your device.
