How to convert PDF to Markdown

  1. Choose your PDF.
  2. Click Convert to Markdown.
  3. Copy the Markdown or download it as a .md file.

What is converted

The text of the PDF is rebuilt as Markdown. Lines that were wrapped in the PDF are joined back into paragraphs, larger text is turned into headings (#, ##, ###), and bullet points become Markdown lists. This gives clean, portable text for note apps such as Obsidian and Notion, documentation sites, or pasting into an AI assistant. Images, tables, and bold or italic styling are not carried over.

Frequently asked questions

How are headings detected?

By text size. Text clearly larger than the body text becomes a heading, and the larger it is, the higher the level.

Are tables converted?

No. The text inside a table is kept, but as ordinary lines rather than a Markdown table.

My PDF is a scan. Will this work?

Not directly. Run it through OCR PDF first, then convert the searchable PDF it gives you.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Your PDF is processed in your browser and never leaves your device.
