Frequently asked questions
Do spaces count as characters?
Both totals are shown: one that includes spaces and line breaks, and one that leaves them out.
How are emoji counted?
Each emoji or symbol counts as one character. Some combined emoji, such as family emoji or flags, are made of several characters and count as more than one.
What is the size figure?
It is how many bytes the text takes when saved as UTF-8, which matters for limits measured in bytes rather than characters.
Is my text uploaded to a server?
